What is the IHSS program?
The In-Home Support Services (IHSS) program allows family members or friends to become paid caregivers for their loved ones who qualify for Medicaid. This program supports individuals who require advance help with their medical needs but prefer to stay at home rather than in a care facility.
Who is eligible for IHSS?
To be eligible for IHSS, your loved one must qualify for Medicaid, require medical assistance within the limits of the program like medication set-up, insulin injection, limited skin care and similar. The caregiver may be a family member or friend and meet eligibility requirements, including a background check and undergo appropriate training by a Registered Nurse to qualify to provide care.
Can I get paid to take care of my family member through IHSS?
Yes, IHSS allows family members or friends to become paid skilled caregivers for their loved ones. If your family member qualifies for Medicaid and needs in-home care, you can apply to become their paid caregiver.
What kind of support will I receive as a family caregiver?
IRN Home Care provides comprehensive training and ongoing support for family caregivers enrolled in the IHSS program. We will train and guide you through caregiving best practices, ensure you have the skills you need, and offer ongoing support to help you succeed.
What is the difference between IHSS and traditional home care services?
IHSS allows a family member or friend to provide care and receive compensation, while traditional home care services are provided by professional caregivers hired through an agency. Both options provide similar types of care, but IHSS gives families more control over who provides the care.
