In-Home Support Services (IHSS)

To be eligible for IHSS, your loved one must qualify for Medicaid, require medical assistance within the limits of the program like medication set-up, insulin injection, limited skin care and similar. The caregiver may be a family member or friend and meet eligibility requirements, including a background check and undergo appropriate training by a Registered Nurse to qualify to provide care.

Yes, IHSS allows family members or friends to become paid skilled caregivers for their loved ones. If your family member qualifies for Medicaid and needs in-home care, you can apply to become their paid caregiver.
